Looking back, my actual journey with movement began when I experienced a few bodily expression sessions at kindergarten, discovering the joy of movement. Though those sessions vanished after moving from kindergarten, my passion for physical education silently thrived throughout school, effortlessly enjoyed by my body.
I discovered how deeply my body loved dance in my Germany years around 2001, dancing solo at parties and then dancing with Latin American friends to Latin music. Upon moving to Brussels in 2006, salsa became my newfound passion. This marked the beginning of my exploration into various dance styles such as Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Samba de Gafieira, Samba no Pé, Lindy Hop, African Dance, Oriental Dance, Blues, Fusion, West Coast Swing, Forró… – often delving in with a learn-as-you-go approach.
My dedication to dance deepened in 2015 when I discovered Brazilian Zouk through Xandy Liberato’s fascinating approach. It felt so aligned with my connection to dance that this marked the moment when I delved wholeheartedly into dance, training extensively with Xandy Liberato in weekly classes, international workshops, retreats and private classes, focusing on Zouk and Connection with the Method he had been developing since 2009. From 2018 to 2023, I closely collaborated with him, meticulously data collecting, understanding, structuring and systematizing the Liberato Method as well as its educational system, aimed at the training of prospective facilitators. This collaboration also extended to the drafting of a Liberato Method’s teaching manual as well as the cocreation of pedagogical design of training programmes for retreats, workshops, and courses, both online and in-person.
With over 20 years of experience as a passionate dancer and both experiential and theoretical researcher of the Liberato Method, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative potential of dance. I deeply know that conscious movement and dance can profoundly enhance our connection with our bodies, ourselves, and with others.
